"It's the journey in life that's so rewarding, not the destination."
It all began for Tara back in 1988, putting flyer's together and distributing them door-to-door for a local Real Estate company in Richmond Hill, Ontario. “I really enjoyed what I did”, explains Tara, “to this day I have never looked back!”
Onward and upward, she continued to focus on setting a career path in the Real Estate industry. “After doing the flyer's, I was approached by the management team in our office with an offer to fill a placement being a part-time receptionist.” This position enabled Tara to gain valuable skills while achieving recognition for her efforts, and ultimately landed her a full-time position as a Broker’s secretary.
In 1995, Tara was sought after to acquire the role of Office Administrator and Personal Assistant. “I was grateful for this opportunity to further my career and to gain invaluable knowledge.” Tara further adds, “This was a demanding position, and the experience really helped me to better understand the business.”
Tara has worked for such esteemed establishments as Trans World, Re/Max, Home Life, Coldwell Banker and Royal Le Page, and in 2000 she started as a Personal Assistant with Arten Real Estate Centre in what would become her current passion, a Real Estate Sales Representative. Tara fondly remembers, “It was January of 2001 as I recall, and I was in the midst of maternity leave with my fourth child, when my husband brought up the fact, again, that he as well as just about everybody else said that I should get my Real Estate license.”
That conversation seemed to work, “Shortly after that, I was approached by my employer, and to my surprise and delight, he even offered to pay for the course!”
It’s January 22, 2002, and Tara is now a licensed Real Estate Sales Professional. The rest, they say, is history. Tara enjoys immensely her new role, as well as her existing role of devoted wife and loving mother of four. “Family is so important to me,” she explains “And I can’t believe I waited so long to get my license. It’s so rewarding housing Canadians, and the support I have received from my family has been tremendous!”
Tara has received so much support from family that, point in fact, her husband is now her Personal Assistant! “I have a fully functional home-based office that I work out of, and it just made perfect sense for Stephen to work with me. It allows us to spend more time together, and more time with our four children.”
The relationship seems to be working. Since obtaining her Real Estate license in 2002, Tara personally houses over 50 Canadian families a year! She's also been awarded with Arten Real Estate Centres’ Top Producer Award for each and every year with the most accepted offers for a single sales rep within the organization. Tara was also notified that for 2003, 2004 and 2005 she was in the Top 1% of all Real Estate Professionals throughout the GTA for 'Units Sold by a Buyer's Agent'. In 2003, out of all registered agents of the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB), this equates to Tara being among the Top 25! In January, 2007 Arten Real Estate Centre became part of the Colwell Banker team, and is now Colwell Banker The Real Estate Centre.
“I really enjoy working with Buyers” explains Tara; “It just feels great to know I have made someone else happy by finding them a home!”
Tara goes on to say, “I can’t stand to see people putting their hard earned money into their landlords mortgage rather than their own. Buying a home gives my clients a sound, secured investment that will financially help them later on in life.” She adds, “and if they have children, they are able to leave some security and peace of mind for them.”
First-time buyers; seems to be Tara’s niche in the market. Over 95% of Tara’s clientèle are purchasing their very first home. “Buying a home is a very emotional process, and I love being able to hold the hands of first-time buyers,” Tara concludes, “And to help make the experience as stress free and enjoyable as possible for them.”
